I am going to share with you a story about a woman who was taught by her mother on how to knit baby clothes and how she passed on her knowledge on skills to her children and children?s children.
When my grandmother was still on her prime, she would knit baby clothes to each of her children. Her children would always wonder, what makes so special about knitting? And every time she would answer them that knitting is provides a nice personal feeling for her, especially when she sees the knitted clothes worn by her children.
When I was a small kid, my grandmother taught me how to crochet. As soon as my plump little fingers could hold the needle without harming myself, she made no delay on teaching me how to knit. By the time I was six and grandma sights were already failing, she made me thread the needles for her.
At eight years old, my mother knitted a complete spring wardrobe for me. I specifically remember the items she knitted particularly that red trimmed handkerchief. She would sit on a corner and spend most of her time knitting my clothes. I can even remember up to now, the assortment of colors she used and the patterns came from my grandma which my mom used on the clothes she made for me.
I agree and would attest that there is indeed something special in handmade clothing. It goes beyond the designs used, the colors, and quality of the work. It seems there is something really magical that made me feel special every time I put them on. Maybe because I knew that every stitch and knot was lovingly made for me and my brothers.
So, when I got married and got pregnant with my first child, I felt the urge to knit baby clothes for my little one. I started planning out what clothes my baby would wear when she comes home from the hospital and started knitting. The problem is, the moment I started it was very difficult to stop. Knitting became endless for me.
Making clothes for our children is more than just being able to save money or design clothes that we would want our babies to wear. It is our way of showing our love to them.
As the years go by, I continued to sew, knit and crochet clothing for my kids. They have a wide variety of knitted items on their closet, dresses, blankets, hats, sweater, and even pants for each one of them. I never stopped knitting with love for them. Sometimes, I even wondered if this hobby is going out of hand, and I almost gave up on it when I came across something that tells me that I shouldn?t.
Recently I paid a visit to my 22 year old daughter. I saw the sweater I knitted for her draped onto her favorite teddy bear. The teddy bear was placed on top of her dresser. On her table was a blanket I made for her.
My 19 year old boy is now all grown up and lives on his own. Though there are items that he left in the house when he moved out, he never left the knitted blanket I made for him which he was wrapped in it on our way home from the hospital after my giving birth. He even creates clothes for himself which mostly are patches and other strange designs which I couldn?t figure out.
My 15 year old put away her party dress which I made for her when she was just six months old. And guess what where I found it? I found it neatly folded on her precious little treasure box, which contains special items that mean a lot to her.
My 2 boys, one is a 10 year old and the other is 12, has kept the blankets that I used to wrap them when we came from the hospital after my delivery. It became their favorite blankets.
So you see all the hard work and long hours of knitting eventually paid off. When they grow up to become parents and have families of their own, I sincerely hope that they will be able to pass on the knitting tradition and the story that goes with it to their children and their children?s children.

Shamrock tattoos are extremely popular. Some people get them because they want something that represents their Irish heritage. Others get them simply because they are cute and always fashionable. If you want to get one, you are making a great choice. Despite the fact that they are so little, there are actually many different types of shamrocks. You will have countless designs to choose from, and you can also make your own if you?re feeling creative.
The symbolism behind shamrocks is pretty well known. They have been associated with luck and fortune for centuries now. In Ireland, their symbolism oftentimes goes hand in hand with leprechaun myths. In the Victorian times, they were often used in clothing patterns. It was often believed that they had medicinal uses.
These days, people associate shamrocks with Irish heritage. There is a religious and political meaning behind them as well. The image is used by the Catholic Church to represent St. Patrick, and every year on this Saint?s day, March 17, the Royal Irish Regiment soldiers wear a sprig of shamrock, which is their emblem. Queen Victoria decreed the emblem over a century ago as a way to recognize Irish soldiers who fought during the Boer War.
Needless to say, there is a lot of history behind this little green symbol of luck. No matter why you want to get a shamrock tattoo, you will be able to choose from many designs. They are popular among men and women both, and some of the most common styles include having: a shamrock piece mixed in with tribal artwork; a cartoon theme; Celtic knots and the shamrock interwoven together; and realistic, portrait like artwork.
Like with most body art, you can choose any color you want, although a shamrock that is any color other than green, does not have any symbolic meaning. Ireland is known for its love for all things green, after all. Still, if you want to add more color, you should go ahead and get other artwork as well. These little, green; good luck charms compliment other body art beautifully.
One thing you can do is go all out and have your body be a collage of good luck charms. Horseshoe, rabbit?s foot, and a pot of gold all go great with shamrock tattoos. Anything you consider to be lucky will go well with a shamrock. Also, as mentioned above, they are often associated with leprechauns. If you really want to go with Irish symbolism, then you can add leprechauns, a rainbow, and a pot of gold with your shamrock!
If you want to just get a single tattoo for the time being, the shoulder, ankle, wrist, and top of foot are the best places for a shamrock. Since they are small, you should not have any problems with covering yours. For more ideas, there are thousands of designs and images to look over the internet. You can even place temporary tattoos all over your body to see where they look best.
Shamrock tattoos are everywhere these days. If you just want one, small tattoo by itself, it should be easy to take care of. If you want a larger design, however, you should just place a shamrock or two somewhere within the artwork. They are meant to be small, and therefore can be placed in or around other designs. You will have plenty of choices; you just need to know where to look. The internet is filled with tattoo images and ideas.
Author Bio: Most people get a tattoo because it represents something in their life, while others get tattoos for the fun of them. Some fun tattoos include the angel tattoos and the butterfly tattoos. These can be colorful, big and brilliant.

If you are looking for something little, then maybe a cute ladybug tattoo will be a good choice for you. This design is pretty popular and it is a perfect choice for those who only want a small tattoo. If you do not want anything big, then you need to go with a design such as this one. In many cultures, ladybugs symbolize luck, and it is believed that anyone who wears one will always be fortunate!
In Europe, for instance, French and English farmers associate ladybugs with good weather. In some Asian countries, it is believed that God blessed this little insect with the ability to understand human languages. It is obviously not surprising, why so many people in various cultures choose to get ladybug tattoos. Not only are they adorable, but they apparently carry blessings with them anywhere they go.
Another great thing about these tattoos is that the designs come in an assortment of colors. You probably imagine the classic red insect with the black spots. However, there are many different colors to choose from where body art is concerned. There is no rule that says you need to limit yourself to ?realistic? colors. If you want a ladybug tattoo that features every color of the rainbow, then go for it! If you want a striped one or a yellow one with blue polka dots, you can do those as well.
Ask your tattoo artist which colors will look best on you. He or she will be able to tell which colors will look best on your skin tone. You can also try temporary tattoos if you want; try different ones to see which ones look best on you. You can also try placing them on different parts of your body in order to help you determine where you should get your real ladybug tattoo when it?s time.
If you already have a tattoo, a ladybug design, will more than likely look great with it. Some people like to add smaller designs to enhance the larger ones. Whether you already have body ink on your lower back, arm, or wherever, a cute little insect design should compliment it very well. Once again, you can place temporary tattoos over or around your other ones to see how well the two go together.
For some more ideas, there are some online tattoo galleries in which you can view designs as well as images of other people?s finished work. Sometimes you can get some very creative ideas just by looking at other people?s tattoos. You can even borrow a few ideas here and there and mix in your own if you like. There are many images online of ladybug tattoos as well as outlines of designs.
If you are on a budget, you will be glad to know that small tattoos are not very expensive at all. No respectable tattoo artist will charge you a fortune for a small, cute ladybug tattoo. Go and visit one today and ask for a quote. You can also print out any designs you like and ask the artist for his or her recommendations.
Author Bio: Tattoos are highly popular in any culture and any part of the world. The angel tattoos and the butterfly tattoos are some of the most popular tattoos in the world.

Anybody can get a sports tattoo, whether they are twenty or sixty. All it takes is love for a game and enthusiasm for a particular team. Athletes themselves have team tattoos, as do many fans. Every team has its very own logo, so it is not surprising that many use those logos as body art. This trend is becoming more and more popular these days, since tattoos are quickly becoming just as mainstream as sports.
Sports team merchandise is part of a multi-million dollar industry, and the merchandise usually features a team?s logo. While some people are content with collecting cards, t-shirts, magnets, jerseys, and caps or helmets, others take things a bit further and get sports tattoos. Some are even willing to pay a lot of money for a large logo.
If you are a sports fanatic and want a tattoo, then you might as well combine the two together. Or, if you have someone in your family who loves sports, why not take them to a tattoo shop on their birthday? Some parents of college athletes are even taking their son or daughter to a shop to get matching tattoos! It is a great way for parents to let their child know they are proud of them and support them. It is also a way for parents to reward their son or daughter for being a good athlete.
You do not have to get the exact logo. You can have it customized however you want. This is a good idea if you want something unique. Sports tattoos are more than just team logos. You can get any tattoo if you want, and then have it filled in with your favorite team?s colors.
Going subtle is a good idea, if you want something unique. If you want to simply get a sports tattoo that reminds you of your favorite sport, you can do that also. There are plenty of baseball designs, including bats, baseballs, and gloves. If you are a basketball fan you can get a basketball or hoops tattoo. For a hockey-themed tattoo, you can get hockey sticks, and a puck. And, of course, if you are a football fan, you can choose a football design, helmet, and so forth.
There are many neat designs featuring footballs, soccer balls, baseballs, and basketballs. Soccer balls surrounded by flames are pretty popular designs. You can get a baseball tattoo around your elbow. There are also baseballs designed like a skull, with bats as ?crossbones?. It?s also not uncommon to see NASCAR related tattoos, particularly in the Southern states.
Every major and national league sports team sells sticker sheets featuring various logos and designs. You can get some and look over them for ideas. You can probably even find temporary sports team tattoos. Of course, they are small, but you can still try them out nonetheless. Speaking of small designs, if you cannot make up your mind on a large tattoo, you might as well just get different little ones. Be creative and mix them up. Ask your tattoo artist for advice about mixing up smaller tattoos. Ask him or her about where on your body they would look best.
Whether you want modest art, big, or a variety of modest designs mixed together, you will have plenty to choose from. You can get one sports tattoo or many to show your love of a particular game, team, or even race car.
Author Bio: Everyone loves one sport or more, but not everyone would get a sports tattoo. Popular tattoos such as the angel tattoo or even the celtic cross tattoo designs are more popular than a sports tattoo.

The scrapbooking hobby has been around for a long time and people do it for a variety of reasons. If you are an outsider to the world of scrapbooking, then you will not understand until you experience the craft the many reasons a person invests so much time and energy into a scrapbook page.
When I was first introduced to scrapbooking via my church family, I told them I had neither time nor energy to invest in creating pages of photos matched up with paper and cute little embellishments. I thought those people were crazy staying up all hours of the evening, dragging around tons of supplies, just to sit and create scrapbook pages. One evening I was invited to a scrapbook night and I agreed to come with the intent of visiting and watching. No scrapbooking for me. I was a business professional who could not imagine investing time or energy into something I felt was for stay-at-home moms or those who had nothing better to do.
Little did I know I was about to change my mind and attitude?during the evening of socializing and viewing all the pages of creation, something changed in me. One person in particular needed help with color coordinating and matting her photos. I started working with her and ended up finishing her page for her. The scrapbooking bug bit me and it bit hard! The very next day I was out buying all the essential tools to create my very own pages of photos.
What is it about scrapbooking that captures so many people?s devotion and attention?
Focus? You lose your focus on everything except for the scrapbook page you are working on. You forget the world exist for a few moments and you focus on nothing but what is in front of you.
Creativity? All it takes is a sheet of paper and a few ideas to get your creative juices going. Whether the ideas are from a magazine, your surroundings, or the scrapbook paper held in your hand; the end result is pure enjoyment.
History? When I think of a scrapbook, to me it is the history of the day, moment, or event. The page was created for future generations to learn of their family.
Expressing myself? The scrapbook is made by someone and that in itself is a source of pride and joy. The feeling you get from completing, giving, or sharing your scrapbooks is indescribable.
Giving? When working on a scrapbook layout, you are giving your thoughts, feelings, and memories to an event to share with others. The joy you feel when others express pleasure and enjoyment from your work is worth all the time and energy.
Scrapbooking has become so sophisticated you do not even need to leave the comfort of your home to get started. If you are experienced with computer programs such as Photoshop Elements, your tools are at the tips of your hands. If you prefer traditional scrapbooking, you still have the ability to order supplies and tools at the comfort of your home and within days you will be completing your own scrapbook.
People today have a variety of reasons for making their own scrapbooks and/or creating creations of beauty with their supplies. The majority of my experience has been to create something to share with future generations. People want to be remembered and through a scrapbook their lives are shared.

Halloween is traditionally the scariest part of the year, when home owners and residence put up decorations and celebrate the night when the veil between the two worlds is said to be at its thinnest. The tradition of decorations comes from an early belief that, by decorating and lighting jack o lanterns, any evil spirits would be dissuaded from entering the home and thus the night could pass without incident. Whether this has any basis in fact or not, Halloween decorations remain fun and exciting for both adults and children.
It is therefore, when October 31st rolls around, only natural to want to spread the spooky fun to a dollhouse. Adding a touch of festivity to any dollhouse is guaranteed to raise a smile, and joy is gained from both the preparation and the finished product itself. For anyone with a craft interest, there is the chance to make Halloween decorations ? but in miniature.
Making your own miniature Halloween decorations need not be in a chore. In fact, it should be fantastically good fun, allowing a flexing of the craft muscles and an enjoyable result at the end.
With the decision made to create such decorations, the mind naturally turns to how to do so. While some stores and specialist online retailers sell readymade decorations, these detract somewhat from the fun of creativity. A dollhouse itself is a cared for and meticulously planned place; why cheapen it with plastic, simple decorations that are mass produced? For the real personal touch, make your own Halloween decorations ? and there is also the extra bonus that doing so is good for the wallet as well as the crafter in you.
All that is needed to create stunning miniature Halloween decorations is a computer, a printer and a set of crafting tools. These tools can be as comprehensive as a thorough set bought from a retailer, or as simple and basic as a pair of kitchen scissors and some standard household glue.
Then, you must use the internet to locate the kind of decorations you want. For this example, we will look into making a miniature coffin; an ideal decoration that you do not need to have a degree in arts and crafts to master. Search around the internet using your usual method for related phrases ? such as miniature coffin or miniature Halloween decoration plans ? and you will soon have a vast array to choose from.
Most of the website providing such things have their own step by step guides, and it is best to work with specific directions for the plan you find rather than a generic set of instructions. However, basically; you will need to print out the flat plan for your design. From this, you can score and cut and fold, slowly building up the coffin shape and reinforcing with cardboard if necessary. Some designs will be held together by intricate folding, and some will require glue; choose whichever method suits you best. Follow the advice and work slowly and carefully, and soon you will have your very own miniature coffin designed to your exact tastes. A cheap dime store skeleton designed to go on a key ring will complete the look, and your dollhouse will be all ready for Halloween. It is important to remember it is not just coffins you can make ? essentially, anything you can buy for your own house, you can make for your dollhouse.

When December 25 rolls around, there tends to be a flurry of activity in any household across the country. As the Christmas feeling sets in, residents raid the attacks of their homes and venture into stores to purchase everything they need for the festive season; as the decorating of the house begins. For many, it does not feel like Christmas until the tinsel is wrapped around the banner, the holly wreath is on the front door and the Christmas tree and fairy lights are twinkling in the window. The Christmas spirit comes alive around you with decorations.
It may seem trivial, but if you own a dollhouse, the idea may well stem to the dollhouse itself. There can be nothing more charming and festivity inspiring than seeing the usual decorations and sparkles honoring the Christmas season, but played out in miniature within a dollhouse. Decorations that are familiar and treasured suddenly take on a new significance when seen gracing the ornate beauty of a dollhouse, giving the entire Christmas season a new dimension. Quite simply, when it is so cheap and easy to do so, some may argue any owner of a dollhouse would be crazy not to decorate their treasure for the Christmas season!
A stunningly decorated dollhouse is not just a novelty for the indulgent dollhouse owner. If done properly ? and anyone with a dollhouse is a person used to doing things properly, focusing on the minute details ? then a Christmas theme decorated dollhouse can be a Christmas decoration in itself. Rather than a standard centerpiece for Christmas dinner, your beautifully festive dollhouse could take the place if small enough ? if not, used as a feature decoration in the living room or beside the front door as a picture of a charmingly picturesque Christmas charm.
Achieving this adorable idea is, thanks to the wonders of the internet and some specialist high street stores, is simpler now than it has ever been. Whatever your budget, taste, style and preferences; the answers are now available to buy. It has, quite simply, never been easier to bring a little Christmas cheer to your own dollhouse as well as your main living area.
What you do and what you purchase is up to you. It is possible to purchase entire kits, which allow a full decoration of every room and outside area of a dollhouse of almost any size. These tend to include all the decorations you would use for yourself and your own home. These include wreaths, tinsel, baubles, Christmas trees (it is possible to even purchase real, off-cuts of actual trees), fairy lights, Christmas card holders, cards to purchase to put on mantelpieces, display reindeer and fake snow. These sets tend to be themed ? such as Victorian Christmas, in keeping with the origins of the dollhouse ? and come as a complete packaged set.
There is also the option, however, of buying just what you feel you need. All of the items that are mentioned above can be bought separately, and this is often cheaper than purchasing a set; with a set, you pay a premium for the convenience.
Whichever road you wish to take, you can now add a Christmas cheer to your very own dollhouse and have a festive decoration no one will ever forget.

Most metal sashes are constructed so that the glass may be replaced with little difficulty. As there are many kinds of such sash, the steps to be taken may vary to some extent. The manufacturer usually provides a set of instructions for his particular brand, and it is best to follow these instructions, if they are available. In case no such information is at hand when the emergency arises, it might be well to mention two methods commonly used.
Tools You Will Need:
? Screw driver
? Putty knife
? Small, flat paint brush.
Materials You Will Need:
? Double strength glass or plate glass (single-strength glass is not recommended in metal sash)
? Putty made of whiting and white lead
? Enough paint of the same color as the sash for covering the topcoat of putty.
There are two methods of glazing metal sashes. In some cases you will have to do the glazing on the outside of the sash, while others provide for glazing on the inside. If glazing on the inside, be sure to cover any nearby bathroom fixtures, bathroom vanities, or hot tubs that could be permanently damaged by spills and drips.
In the first method, the old putty and broken glass should be removed as in wooden sash and the metal sash scraped clean where the new glass is to rest. There may also be wire spring clips that you have to remove before the old glass will come out.
Then the new glass must be embedded in putty, in order not to come directly in contact with the metal. Spread the putty over the metal where the glass is to rest and push the glass firmly into place so that the putty fills every crevice. Now fasten the glass in tightly by means of the wire spring clips provided for that purpose.
As a rule, these clips are held in place by holes bored through the sash. When the glass is thus secured, apply the face putty in the same manner as prescribed for wooden sash. When the putty has thoroughly hardened, it should be painted the same color as the sash frame.
If you prefer to use an alternative method of glazing metal sashes, the first thing you must do is remove the broken glass. To so this you unscrew the metal beading or glazing strips and take them off. Since the remnants of the putty will still be there, you have to scrape off as much of this putty as you possibly can. Then you reapply putty as it is described in the first method. Be careful with broken glass, particularly in bathrooms and areas where people tend to have bare feet, such as near the bathtub, hot tub, or steam shower.
When you replace the glass you must refasten the metal beading or glazing strips very tightly against the glass. It is important that you get these strips tight but you also have to be careful that you don?t break the glass in the process. There are brass screws to hold the strips in place and these form a neat frame around the edges of the glass. Finish off the project by scraping off any putty which may be visible on the glass or the window to make the job look as if it was done by a professional.

Candles have been being used as far back as before the Middle Ages and were used not only for the visual appeal that is the reason for many of us using them today. It?s obvious that candles were once used to light the homes of our ancestors but candles were and still are used in a number of religious ceremonies as well. Many congregations still light candles at the beginning of their weekly sermons and couples often light candles at their wedding ceremonies as well. Candles are used by a number of religions to symbolize important happenings and individuals throughout history.
Initially the first candles were made from the fat collected from slaughtered animals but when the Middle Ages rolled around the beeswax candle was introduced and since then candles have been made from a large variety of materials. Candles today are made from materials such as soy, plant cells, coconut oil, palm oil, animal fat, and olive oil just to name a few. More and more materials are being experimented with in order to produce candles that are of a better quality, with better fragrance, and that are healthier for those individuals who use them. In the past some materials that have been used to make candles have been known to emit a not altogether pleasant smell and were not used for the fragrance aspect as they are used today.
Candles have long been available in a variety of shapes and sizes as well. Some of the more popular shapes of candles include the votive, the taper, and the pillar. Today, though, just as candles can come in almost any fragrance and color they can also come in all shapes and sizes. Candle making has become a form of art in which many artists express the joys of nature through the intricate designs and exotic scents of their candles. Whereas candles used to be handmade in the beginning of their use many today are made from machines but those that are made by hand in smaller specialty shops still posses that handmade quality that candles did for many years.
In ancient times candles were considered to be a luxury only enjoyed by those that were more well off. The high price that was once associated with candles may have to do with the handmade method of making them. Candles made years and years ago took a considerable amount of time and craftsmanship that is not quite as necessary today. Today candles can be mass produced within a matter of minutes and are available to almost anyone who wishes to indulge in them. What was once developed to provide light in the dark is now used to create an ambiance like no other. From the candles on the alter to a candlelit dinner to the birthday candles on a cake we find ourselves more and more enjoying candles. The delightful feel that a candle gives off has made them withstand the test of time more so than many other things created so long before our time and will likely continue to do so for many years to come.

With the boom in the information technology and the use of the Internet over the last few decades, we have seen how business people and entrepreneurs have utilized the power of the cyber world to get their products and services to customers and consumers.
The online market has made almost every type of product or service available with just a few clicks of the mouse. It offers an easy, time saving and convenient shopping route that is beneficial to a number of different people.
This is why even art lovers and art collectors who used to traverse from one gallery to another can now buy pieces of artwork whether it is a painting, a sculpture or a mixed media composition through the Internet. From music notes wall hangings to fleur de lis wall art, almost every type of artwork is now available in the cyber market.
However, it is important to know that even though buying online is highly easy and convenient, it does not come without drawbacks. For one, there are many frauds out there pretending to be legitimate suppliers of artworks. Another problem is the one where the buyer receives the wrong item or does not receive anything at all.
These types of problems can be resolved through cautious and safe online shopping. To do just that, here are some major tips to remember:
1. Buy from online art galleries that allow for a money back guarantee. This way, if ever you get the wrong painting or you are not satisfied with your order (sometimes, the actual artwork looks different from the photograph), you can still give it back to the gallery.
2. Go for online galleries that provide detailed information about the paintings they have for sale including the artist, title, size, medium and others. Photos posted in the website must be clear.
3. Make sure the size and style of the artwork fits your home or the room where you want to put it in. For example, you may want to place a sports wall d?cor in your activity area or some music notes wall hangings in your music room. The size is also an important factor because you do not want to end up with a painting that does not fit your room properly.
4. Opt for an online gallery that has a secure website. In order for you to know if a website is secure, check if it has a closed padlock symbol at the bottom of the screen. If there is no padlock or if it is open, that means that the website is not secure.
5. Study all the policies and charges on returns, cancellations and shipping. Make sure you understand everything completely before signing anything.
6. Check your orders carefully upon delivery so you can give it back to the courier immediately if you get the wrong product or if there is any defect with the item.
Through these practical and simple tips, you will be able to enjoy a fun and safe online shopping experience.
