A local art collector Houston hired us to create a low maintenance, sophisticated, contemporary landscape design. She wanted her property to complement your eclectic taste in architecture, outdoor sculpture and modern art. His house was built with a minimalist approach to decorating, with emphasis at right angles and windows instead of architectural discourse. The west wing of the house was one story, while the east wing was two floors. The windows of the two wings were larger than usual, so that visitors could see his art collection from outside the house. Near one of the big rear windows, was a abstract metal sculpture designed as a spiral.

When you initially contact us, surrounding property were only a few trees and Indian grass and vegetation. This was really a good place to start with us because we helped develop a contemporary landscape design, which included a very linear, crisp look for support from the home and its contents. We started by planting a garden around the large contemporary sculpture by the window. Designers landscape planting cane ponytail under the windows along the sides of the house and around corners. This vegetation is very strong and robust, and requires little pruning, weeding, or mulch. This helped to unite the diverse elements of sculpture, contemporary architecture and landscape design in a more harmonious fluid retaining the proportions of each single element, but eliminates any tendency of the elements collide.

Then add two stone designs in the landscape surrounding the contemporary art collection and home. The first was a linear walkway we built with concrete blocks purchased through of a retailer as a cost saving benefit to our client. We created this way to follow the perimeter of the house so that visitors can walk around throughout the building and admire the outdoor sculptures and collections of modern art visible through the windows. This was especially nice at night, when the whole house was illuminated from within.

To add a touch of calm and tranquility to the hard right angles of the house and around the contemporary landscape, we designed a special seating area to the northwest corner of the property. We wanted to create a sense of contemplation in this area, so he fled from the designs linear and angular of the surrounding landscape and has established a theme of circular geometry. We have established the gravel ground cover, then placed large pillows circular arranged like giant stepping stones to a stone courtyard full of chairs. The shape of the tablets of granite and the contours of the gravel area also congratulated the spirals and turns in the outdoor metal sculpture, and balanced across the contemporary landscape design with geometric proportional lines, angles and curves.

This particular design of the contemporary landscape also has a sense of movement is credited. All stone leads to a destination of some sort. The linear track provides a guided tour around the house, garden, and a collection of modern art.
