In 2007, I ran my Ranger 23 Tall Rig in the Santa Cruz only to discover that he could not break 4 knots. I sent a complaint about Ranger's MSN website asking why I was losing races and can not reach any velocity.

When I took the boat at the end of the season, it was difficult to remove fiber growth in the shade bottom of the boat creating a thin mat on most from the bottom to vary the hull.

In the spring of 2008 I my boat with sand bottom, keel and rudder and applied VC 17 of the port side and navigation Antifouling quiet non-stick to the starboard side of the bottom of the boat, the keel and rudder.

This year I raced with speeds up to 7.1 knots, and a second in the Hudson to Hudson Aintree race, beating several J 80.

Deliberately not washed my bottom boat throughout the season (7 months).

When I took the boat at the end of the season, this is what I found.

Both sides of the bottom of the boat, the keel and rudder was a thin layer of silt dead at about a 1 / 32 of an inch. Except in the bottom 6 inches of the keel. Bottom sediments and sand has been cleared of the keel of the time during the few that ran aground season.

The port side (CV 17) had a lot of blue paint (my original background) showing through, and virtually disappeared at the helm. The starboard side of the boat with the Smooth Sailing Antifouling, it does not stick to copper color was still over 90% of the area.

Both teams had some areas that had never been coated on the wheels of the trailer were the cradle and also a few lines to along the bottom that had ropes holding the boat on the trailer she was afraid to eliminate in a coated around. These areas remained free of fibers.

That had left two meters long bare area on the lower side of the harbor where a strip of Smooth Sailing, a difference with blue background uncoated old paint and a small area of urethane coating Teflon blank. In this area the Smooth Sailing Antifouling was still strong and untouched. There were fibers that grow in old blue paint, and urethane coating Teflon had no fibers, but not quick rinse as copper fund venture capital 17 or anti-fouling Vela smooth. It seems that in 2009 I will be putting on two hands Smooth Sailing for copper antifouling bottom in my Ranger, keel and rudder. This bottom boat paint is on
