When painting portraits, it is best to use oil or acrylic?

I'm wanting to start painting portraits and have seen many pictures of oil painting it looked fabulous, but now I have a bunch of acrylic paint. Should I go buy some oil painting?

you can create pictures wonderful in both. you have to remember that oil is not dry as fast as other paintings. allowing greater mixing paints to get the color you want (such such as skin tone). The preference is key. practice with the oils and see how you like them. If you are not happy with the paint, you willl not be happy with the final result.
