I have an original painting by Richard Akerman - Where is the best place to get value?
I bought it around 1979 - is quite a large canvas, Akerman very typical style with its trademark trees. I know that your posters and prints are widely available - but not sure how to go get an original painting valued.
Well, lucky thing! The best place to go is a specialist valuers, a respected auction house. It is better telephone to ask if he can come first, then take in, they will get their resident expert appraiser to take a look, and probably prompts you to sell there. Note, in an auction house, you have to pay the commissions, they will tell you how much they are.
